Todd Calvin, Rochester Bicycle Club I read Dan's email about the history of the club and boy do things sound familiar... If enough people get involved in the types of club functions that they want to do, then you can be very successful. Generally if you want it to happen, you have to get involved, dont expect somebody else to do it for you. The RBC currently has about 750800 members and we have subcommittees for Short rides (1030mi) Medium rides (3070mi) Long rides (70+) Offroad rides Touring (loaded) Ultramarithon riders (100s of mi) Overnights and weekends Mountian Bike Advocacy Trail Maintinance Road advocacy Bike week Effective cycling education Time Trials This constitutes about 50 or more people involved in their areas of interest, while the Board (about 12 people) acts as a steering committee. Dan's points are well made and there is no reason that certian things "can't" be done. Members make the club happen! |
