Results of the 2nd Annual Ithaca Snow Bowl Race Mother Nature, 1; FLCC, 0 After a week of trail preparation, Mother Nature decided to turn the trails on the hill into an un-rideable quagmire of snow, slush, and mud. The small turnout of riders (about 10) looked at each other and agreed that, although all had ridden in worse conditions, we didn’t think it would be worth the effort or the damage to the trails to race. Most of us chose instead to ride on the road and enjoyed each other’s company during a nice mountain-bike ride over the hills. By the way, as I described at the club’s February meeting, the turnout for this event included riders from distant places (Oswego, Cincinnatus, Cortland), but nobody from the FLCC. I find this most disappointing, as I invest a good deal of time and effort trying to make things happen for the local riders, and frequently find that the only people who partake are not even related to the FLCC. I have to ask, why should the FLCC have any involvement in mountain-bike events if none of its members ever show up ? Please, somebody, give me a positive answer.
