by Mike Dolenga On Tuesday, El Presidente Fravil, Phil "wait up for me guys" Davis and I went for a ride. We started at East Hill Plaza, went along to White Church road, and then back along Coddington into a headwind that seemed to make us stand still. It started snowing towards the end, and the temperature dropped rapidly. Dan was kind enough to give me a ride home from East Hill in the Fravilmobile, and Phil headed downtown. Who cares, you say? Well, there's more to the story. First of all, be it known that the VP-Touring has trouble getting his front wheel on his bike. Isn't that pathetic? Who have we elected? Is there opportunity for recall? Second, as we were riding along White Church, some guy with a small grey car (forget the make) waves us down and asks if we'll give him a push so that he can jump start the car. Well, nice guys that we are, and despite the fact that he was wearing his hunting license (I had just been expressing my objections to the fact that some people actually enjoy killing animals) we stopped. Since there was nowhere to rest our bikes, the VP-Racing came up with the brilliant idea of standing them up in a snowbank. It works, really well. We warned the guy that we had weird shoes on and that walking was a problem. Nevertheless, here we were, 3 guys dressed in black spandex, Dan and I wearing bright yellow jackets, and Phil in red, pushing this car along until it got up to speed. The cleats made it interesting to say the least. The car, however, did not start, but at least we tried. Another community service brought to you by the Finger Lakes Cycling Club. Mike and, another view... The Right Stuff |
