The FLCC Annual Meeting was held at Glenn Swan’s on Sunday, January 18, 1998. Attendance was 25 members.

The election of officers saw a few changes as I was reelected President, Don Andersen remains as Vice-President for Racing and Glenn Swan stays as Vice-President for Mountain Biking. Andrejs Ozolins switches over from Newsletter Editor to replace Phil Davis as Vice-President for Touring and Fred Conner takes on the Newsetter Editor position. David Ruppert remains as Secretary and Bill Demo as Treasurer. Tom Swensen comes back as Coach. Joining holdovers Sherrie Black, Matt Clark and Steve Bowman on the Board of Directors as Members-at-Large are Kyra Stephanoff and Emia Oppenheim. Looks like a fine group to me as the club looks to continue its growth of the last five years.

Thanks to Steve Bowman for chairing the nominating committee that roped all these people in. Treasurer Bill Demo’s report shows that the club is in fine shape financially, with money in the bank. The races the club held last year were all profitable. Jersey sales were good enough that we will be ordering more of them for this year (look for ordering info elsewhere in this newsletter). We will be the lead sponsor on the "Share the Road" bumper stickers soon to appear around town — make sure to get one. We also voted to send a $25 donation to the group that runs the computer "listserve" for us.

Glenn Swan sought approval to initiate a bid for the FLCC to sponsor the New York State Time Trial Championship. His only concern was the need for volunteers. Well, we have the race. This should be a fine showcase for the club and its ability to put on quality events. Details are elsewhere. Glenn will need a lot of help with this. As always, club members who help at races seem to find better prices at Swan Cycles.

The Board of Directors will be having a planning meeting at 4:00 on Sunday, February 22 at Glenn Swan’s. If you have any ideas, needs or concerns, show up or get in touch with me before the meeting. With the warm weather of this winter, can the start of club activities be too far away? We all look forward to another great year of cycling.
