Weekend Ride Schedule

Car pools are possible— indeed, they are encouraged!— for rides that don’t begin in Ithaca. Call Andrejs for information or to arrange to ride or drive (you’ll find his number at the end of the ride listing).

Aug 2—Tunnison–Harford. Meet at the Marine Midland bank, East Hill, at
9:00 am. About 50 miles, 35 miles short option.

Aug 9 —Halsey Valley–Waverly. Meet at the Marine Midland bank, East Hill, at 9:00 am. Those who want to shorten this ride should car-pool and meet the group at the intersection of Halsey Valley Road and NY 96 (parking in nearby Spencer on Water St.). It’s a 95-mile roundtrip ride from Ithaca, about 45 miles starting from Spencer.

Aug 16—’Round Seneca Lake. Car-pool to and meet at Clute Park in Watkins Glen, 9:00 am. (Clute Park is at the southern end of Seneca Lake, in the place corresponding to Stewart Park in Ithaca.) Watkins Glen’s annual  Italian–American Festival will be  underway in that park, so plan to  conclude the ride with great food and cold drinks. 80 miles, no short option.

Aug 22 —Note: this is a Saturday. Glenn Curtiss race and tour around Keuka Lake. Car-pool and meet at the Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport. The riding starts at 9:00 am, so get there in time to register. The ride around the lake is about 45 miles; the race route is a bit longer.

Aug 23—Cass Park–Sheldrake. Meet at Cass Park, 9:00 am. This will be a gentle ride through Trumansburg to Sheldrake, so those who worked hard at Keuka Lake the previous day can keep up. We’ll stop at The Store in Trumansburg from 10:00–10:15 am or so, to pick up riders who want a shorter ride. About 45 miles.

Aug 30—Cayuga Lake, the Big One. Meet at Stewart Park, 9:00 am. Around the lake is about 90 miles, with no short option.

Sept 6—Otisco Lake. This is a lake we’ve neglected in the past. Since it’s a small lake, we’ll meet in Homer on Route 41, at the school just off NY 281. It’ll be a 50-mile ride from there.

Sept 7—Labor Day (Monday), and a perfect time for another Tour de Chardonnay. Meet at 9:00 am at the Tompkins Professional Building parking lot on Route 96 (Cliff Street) just north of the hospital entrance. We’ll form a ride plan to suit those who turn out.

Sept 13—Odessa–Lodi. Meet at 9:00 am at the Tompkins Professional Building parking lot on Route 96 (Cliff Street) just north of the hospital entrance. The ride will follow the ridge from Odessa north, and then cross back to Cayuga Lake from Lodi. 70 miles, with lots of short options.

Sept 20—Lake Como, 65 miles starting at 9:00 am from the Marine Midland bank, East Hill.

Sept 27—I’m open to suggestions for a new or repeat ride. Please call me with your ideas!
