Ride Schedule

April 26 —Meet at the Store in Tru-mansburg, 10:00 am. (Be sure to park in the municipal lot across from the store and not on the street in front of the store.) Ride will be west toward Hector and the Finger Lakes National Forest. 32 miles.

May 3 —This is the day of the FLCC’s annual race, the Hollenbeck Spring Classic. Members are encouraged to participate in the race, attend as a spectator, or volunteer to help out (see details at the left). We will begin the ride after the race, and follow the
22-mile race course so that all may see this lovely route. Meet at Hollenbeck’s Cider Mill, in Virgil. The ride starts at 12:30 pm.May 10—Meet at the Tompkins County Professional Building at 10:00 am. (That’s on Cliff Street, which is also Route 89, just north of the hospital
entrance.) The ride will be through Mecklenburg to Cayuta Lake. 43 miles. Many shorter (and longer!)  options are available.

May 17 —White Church Valley. Meet at the Marine Midland Bank, East Hill, at 10:00 am. This route has claimed the title of "most scenic" among some Sunday riders. We’ll work a few extra sights and hills into this year’s version. 28 miles.

May 24 —Dryden Lake. Meet at the Marine Midland Bank, East Hill, at 10:00 am. This ride will be a bit of work, crossing to Dryden on Irish Settlement Road and returning by way of Shutt and Harford roads. A short option would be to start at the Dryden post office at about 11:00 am. 40 miles.

May 25 (Memorial Day)—Tour de Chardonnay. Meet at Tompkins County Professional Building at 10:00 am. (That’s on Cliff Street, which is also Route 89, just north of the hospital entrance.) This Memorial Day ride is a members’ favorite. It began on a sunny holiday morning a few years ago when several club members rode to the Ginny Lee Cafe at Wagner’s vineyards for a bit of brunch. We may repeat that route or decide on another destination. Probably around 40 miles.

May 31 —Spencer–Waverly. Start in Spencer at 10:30 am, 48 miles. A new FLCC loop that looks like great cycling. It’s a mild-rolling route that follows streams all the way. There’s a convenience store just at the intersection of routes 17C and 34 for a mid-ride rest stop, plus a short, quick detour into Pennsylvania is possible for those who want an interstate adventure. The ride will start from Water Street, which is the first street before Spencer (i.e., on the Candor side of Spencer). There’s a little parking area next to a stream; you can see the back of the market on the main street from there. Those wishing a really long ride can start from East Hill at 9:00 am; it’s a 24-mile ride one-way to Spencer via Wilseyville. I expect to have a van to transport people from East Hill to the start in Spencer. People should call or e-mail me to reserve a spot or arrange a ride to and from Spencer.
