As I sit writing this I can see 12" of snow on the ground. The sun is shining and the weather report is for warming later this week but I am sceptical. Last year during this week in early March the temperatures were in the high 50's and low 60's and I rode every day. The vagaries of Ithaca's seasons.

The 1996 FLCC officers have been busy over the winter setting up the riding schedule and we are ready to get going. Phil Davis has done an amazing job of setting up the Sunday ride schedule; it is completed for the season. This year we will be sending out to all new and renewing members a set of sixteen maps that Phil has made up. These maps are of all the Sunday rides that we will be doing this year. They really are fine maps and are great for anyone looking for new places to ride. They have distance, elevation gain and a difficulty rating.

Our road racing schedule is taking shape and the reincarnation of the Cascadilla Hill Climb is coming along. We have attended meetings to keep open some trails on state forest land (see report in this newsletter). The FLCC/CMBS racing team is being reinvigorated for mountain and road racing. We had three fine coaching workshops with Glenn Swan over the winter months.

The FLCC is in as fine a shape as ever. We begin the new riding year with 40 new or renewed members and almost 100 old members. Some of these have moved or will not renew for some reason; but we look forward to some 125 members, the largest club size ever. If you have not sent in your dues for 1996, please do so soon. We offer a monthly newsletter in season, shop discounts, riding clinics, about 200 club rides and a spiffy membership card. It's all fun and it will start soon.

See you on the roads and trails.
