May 16–18, Ludlow, Vermont There will be a trip to Vermont Friday evening, May 16 for a weekend of cycling around the fringes of the Green Mountains, non-racing fer sure. We will be staying at the Trojan Horse Lodge in Ludlow, a hostel with bunks for six to a room, $15/person/night and a discount for AYH members. Saturday we will organize some rides around the area and/or hikes up Mt Okemo and/or walks on the Appalachian Trail (which passes through some beautiful places there). Sunday those who wish will join the Great Vermont Rivers Century, though not necessarily for 100 miles. The registration fee is $15 — which, considering they provide food, sounds like a good deal. My main reason for wanting to do this is that it creates a definite occasion set aside for the celebration of a new cycling season. It's an area I've always loved but never cycled in. A short trip like this should fit into most folks' schedules, and the expense is similarly minimal. Needless to say, we will share transport to the max. So, in preparation to more great trips in summer, let's gather the cycle-tourers of the Finger Lakes Cycling Club for our first trip. |
