A while back David French, who took up residence in Ithaca last year, put out notices inviting a meeting of people interested in long distance touring and recreational cycling. This meeting became a stimulus for new thinking about cycling in the area and for reevaluation of the club by its long-time members. David's group didn't make any concrete plans at their one meeting, but the consensus was that the FLCC should really accomodate the interests of such riders — and that some of those riders would take the initiative and begin to organize the sort of rides they want. So far, Ami Kadar has taken the lead in proposing several trips (see other parts of this newsletter). But we want to invite any and all cyclists in the Finger Lakes region to come forward with activities and ideas. We will help you publicize them and join you in them! We need everyone's help to make this everyone's cycling club. |
