I am very excited to announce that I am engaged to be married to a wonderful woman named Heather Hofmeister. Heather is the love of my life, the wind in my sails, (and the air in my tires). Not being traditionalists, we opted to purchase a Burley Duet, a bicycle built for two, in place of an engagement ring. How romantic you say! We thought that the tandem would be an indication of our vows to work together as a team, a commitment to share our lives, and a gentle way to introduce Heather to bicycle touring and our very supportive bike club. Beginning April, you will all have an opportunity to meet my bride-to-be as stoker, and captain. Incidentally we have the same inseam and wear the same shoe-size. How’s that for component compatibility! We have set the wedding date for 11am on Saturday Oct 4th in Sage Chapel at Cornell University. We chose Saturday to avoid the touring schedule (yeah, sure Phil!). We were hoping to get away and rent a little romantic cabin in the Adirondacks during the week of Oct 13th toike, bike, snuggle in front of a fireplace and enjoy the fall colours. We are very happy to share this wonderful news with a club that means so much to me. I suppose that I will have to upgrade my FLCC membership to family status. Sorry, no Burley baby buggy yet, but don’t be surprised if you see one on a future Sunday tour. —Phil Davis VP Family Cycling |
