Lake Champlain Loop , 2008

August 16-24, NY & Vermont -- a 250+mile tour, a mix of camping, hotels, B&Bs

We're still very rough in details of the trip in Vermont. If you won't hold us to every detail, here is the outline of the week:

We'll depart from around Keesville, NY, on the New York side of Lake Champlain. On our arrival day before the tour, we will take the ferry to Burlington (a beautiful half-hour cruise) and spend some time exploring the city and choosing a place for dinner.

The first day of riding will take us north, just past the Canadian border (you'll need a passport) to camp on the northern tip of Lake Champlain.

The following day, we will return to the US in Vermont and make our way through the hills to the vicinity of Jeffersonville. There we will camp for two nights, using an extra day to either take a loop ride or to hike/explore Smugglers Notch and the Mt Mansfield area.

Day four will have us heading south from Stowe along Vermont's scenic route 100. I'm having a hard time locating reasonably located campsites; maybe we'll use our B&B options on some nights here.

Day five we will head west toward Lake Champlain to cross at Ticonderoga. After camping for the night near the lake we will spend our last day of riding climbing the foothills to the Adirondacks and riding through Keene Valley back to our starting point.

As I said, rough, but generally probably a good approximation of what we do.

More as the trip draws near. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact Steve Powell or Andrejs Ozolins
